Beauty Photography San Diego California
Wow, it’s been ages since I’ve blogged. I wholeheartedly blame becoming a mother (to the world’s cutest baby girl, might I add), but it’s a legitimate excuse. Entrepreneurship is more than full-time gig as you are in charge of every aspect, detail, decision and it’s hard to turn your mind off from ideas, inspirations, and dreams. Adding motherhood to that mix, and well, blogging got pushed to the back burner. Now, that being said, I also wholeheartedly believe it’s important. A kind of debrief from the work we are so passionately creating, as well as a working documentation of the process and behind the scenes nuances that you don’t always get from a portfolio page on a website.
I was fortunate enough to land the Lawless Beauty Campaign from 1650 Agency, here locally in San Diego, and immediately loved the brief. Not only is Annie Lawless taking the world by storm with her new line of Natural AF Cosmetics, but she is a gorgeous model for her brand and so gracious to work with. From the start, we wanted the look to be something all-natural, both with tonality of the imagery and also minimal wardrobe and styling. For lighting, we definitely wanted bold but also very flattering as it’s for her cosmetic line. I love how they turned out and how they’re being used for her brand.
India::A Photographers Delight
If you’re a photographer and you’ve never been to India… go! India is full of vibrant colors, rich culture, and beautiful people! I had an amazing time walking and exploring the streets of towns like Jaipur, Udaipur, Puna, Jodphur, and they all have something unique and beautiful to offer. For instance, Jaipur, is the Pink Town, so much of the old Jaipur is painted in pink! Jodphur, on the other hand, is the Blue City, so most of the town’s buildings are blue! Its incredible. Here are a few clips from my time in India! If you’d like to see more, don’t hesitate to ask! I am always a ham to show my photography!
Studio Absolute | Professional Photographer, Bend Oregon
Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing imagery for the design and branding firm, Studio Absolute. Russ and Cheryl McIntosh are not only incredible people and good friends of mine, but they are also so talented in their field. They provide high end design solutions and branding to drive the right clients to your business.
Studio Absolute recently moved to a new location in Tumalo, Oregon and needed imagery for their marketing collateral. I photographed the exterior and interior of their new space, as well as some imagery showing the details within their space. In addition, I wanted to do something fun to showcase them around their space, so we worked with some blurred motion within an interior image of their office.
After receiving their images, Cheryl had this to say… “As a branding and design firm, every touchpoint of our business is under the microscope for its ability to reach and inspire the target market. After trusting Paula to tell several of our clients’ stories through photography, we knew she would do a great job showcasing our new studio. She exceeded our expectations on timing and the quality of the work. We keep asking ourselves, ‘How did she do that?'” Cheryl continues…
“We have a good, quality camera and an eye for design, so we had taken a lot of our own shots of the studio. But we were blown away with Paula’s ability to make our space come alive with her creativity and lighting expertise. Just like hiring a designer–it’s well worth bringing on a trained professional verses a skilled hobbyist. We’re thrilled with the results.”
Below are a few examples of what came out of our time together yesterday. Enjoy!
Distilleries in Portland | Oregon Editorial Photographer
I recently had the pleasure of working with the Oregon Business Magazine with my good friend and amazing art director, Jon Taylor Carter on a story about distilleries around Portland Oregon. Together, we toured three different distilleries, each with their own unique style and expertise. The three amazing distilleries were New Deal, Stone Barn Brandy Works, and House Spirits. Below are just a sampling of the imagery from the distilleries and the cover magazine shot! I hope you enjoy!
Exotic Gemstones Shoot
I recently had the awesome opportunity to photograph Heather and Adel Tennant for my client, Exotic Gemstones LLC aka Oregon Sunstone. The jewelry is mined right here in Oregon and designed by our loved Karla Proud, the owner of Oregon Sunstone! Here are a couple of our favorites!
Norway… Food and Chefs
I was recently hired to go to Norway to be a co-host of a food/travel TV show and to photograph the food and culture of the Norwegian Cuisine. I came away with some great photos that incorporate the lifestyle and passion behind the chefs and dining experience. Here is just a sneak peak at some of my favorites. The trip ranged from visiting some of the top chefs in Norway and their restaurants to going to the fish market or seeing a chef’s eye’s light up as they smell the freshly picked mushrooms from a nearby mountainside. (picture shown). The last picture shown is of a Sami man (indigenous Norwegian people) cook us Reindeer stew right over an open fire and sitting on reindeer skin. If I wasn’t there myself, I’d think it was unbelievable! For the show, my husband and I were also taken around the country just like tourists to see the culture and picturesque scenery of beautiful Norway. What an awesome experience!
