I simply love my job. I feel incredibly blessed to feel like I’m doing exactly what I was intended to do. What’s even better than that? Amazing clients! On a recent project, I was hired by Lenity Group, a large architectural and planning firm in Salem, Oregon to photograph their office building and staff head shots for their new branding and website project.

For this shoot, I worked in collaboration with the wonderfully talented branding and design firm, Studio Absolute, to photograph images that speak to the branding and marketability of the architectural firm. Together, we had a blast working with Lenity Group and their amazing staff to ensure that their personalities and professionalism came through in each image. Africa Oh Africa

After spending 6 months on a trip
around the world, the last three in Africa, my eyes have been open to the opportunities to help others less fortunate. My husband and I spent those 3 months working in a township called Red Hill, living amongst the Xhosa people. Yes, we lived in a “squatter camp” in a shack, and loved every moment of it… well, almost. We were able to help the people living there rebuild their homes after a huge fire that destroyed all of what meager possessions they had. Our team built 79 homes in 2 short months and witnessed changes in people that last a lifetime. Here are a couple images of the faces I saw on a daily basis. Unforgettable!

Lighting Matters. Period.

If you’re a fellow photographer: learn it, breathe it and utilize it to acquire the results you desire for your imagery. If you’re a potential client, looking for a professional photographer to hire for a project: make sure you choose a photographer that has a discerning eye concerning light. Choosing a photographer that knows how to manipulate light to give you the appropriate look and mood for your advertising campaign or editorial spread is crucial.

Below is a before and after photo from an editorial photo shoot I did for Oregon Home Magazine. Adding proper lighting and balancing it with right time of day can turn a dull and mundane photograph into something that pops off the page… And, let’s face it, isn’t that what everyone wants?

Gesme Exterior | Architectural Photographer | Bend, Oregon

Well, it only took a few months to wait for Central Oregon’s weather to get a great evening shot of the Gesme’s Residence in Pronghorn…. but so worth the wait. I shot the interior of this home a while back for architectural designer Kirsti Wolfe, and architect Scott Gilbride, both fantastic in their field (see previous post Pronghorn Residence) and was excited to get some great exterior images for them. I met with the builder of the home Greg Vendrame in Pronghorn to do this evening shoot and had a great time exposing for their attention to detail and remarkable quality. Altogether, this team of professionals is great at what they do and the proof is in the pudding as they say! Take a look!

Log Home | Bend, OR Architectural Photographer

On a new project for the very talented Hansmann and Sons Construction, I was hired to photograph a newly remodeled log home in Central Oregon. Besides the residence being very secluded with its mountain views and private lake, the craftsmanship of the home completed by Steve and Julie Hansmann made the home beautiful and exactly what you’d desire for a log home in Central Oregon. When it comes to architectural photography, are you satisfied with your photographer? Are you receiving the quality and attention to detail that your project deserves? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard things like, “I’m having a family friend photograph my project” or “I met this portrait photographer who is photographing my latest home design”.
